Anesthesiologist is the perfect health care career for a woman wanting a good balance between work and home. Since you would be employed by the hospital, there is no long term patient care unless you specialize in pain management. If you have children for the most part the hours are conducive to school hours, with the exception of a couple of hours before school care that might be required. It also opens up the opportunity for some serious moonlighting dollars. It's a needed profession that has a decent income with a national average of $310,000. Anesthesiology offers the opportunity to "have your cake and eat it too" compared to many other health care professions. Guys, don't feel sidelined - it's a great career for males also. The requirements of both men and women are to study hard, stay determined and no fear of needles.
