Excellent question Jett. CDC recommends two doses of the vaccine for children under 9, roughly 4 weeks apart. So depending on your child's age that will directly affect how many shots he needs. If you go beyond the 4 week mark CDC still recommends getting the second dose; however, you do not need to start over with 2 doses again. I also found a fact sheet from CDC that may be helpful: www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/vaccine_.... Also, I personally use google maps to find health departments.

I was grateful that I could take my children to get vaccinated at Lake Mary H.S. on a Saturday. The line wasn't bad and we did't have to wait very long. I was so glad their school sent home a flyer with the locations and dates to get their vaccinations The problem is that my son needs the 2nd one that he needed 30 days after. I don't know where they are doing it for free now and he is over the 30 day mark. Will he need to start over again? Does anyone know where I can take him to get his follow up vaccine?

More than 320 people have been infected with the H1N1 and 30 deaths have been directly attributed to the virus. I think mandatory vaccines will help bog down the number of infections and death toll.

The vaccine is mandatory at our hospital. But I felt it was a invasion of my privacy.
I can see how this could be a source of frustration, but conversely, I'm sure your patients and/or people you interact with at work are comforted by everyone getting this vaccine.

Some people would say it is survival of the fitest, but survival of the fatest wallet is more like it. I think it's a shame that it's about the all mighty dollar, but what's new in the USA. I still think if the average Joe (like myself) wants to help fight infection, he/she needs to take 1000 mg vitamin C and 400 mg plus of echinacea. I haven't been down and out with a cold more than a day since I started that routine.

Did you guys hear about how Wall Street was given preferential treatment in getting H1N1 vaccines? This is a prime example of how flawed our healthcare system is when money is the determining factor, not need.

Good Call. Although the number one age group impacted by H1N1 is 23 and under, the elderly definitely need safe guards in place to protect them. Caregivers can't be too careful.

I think since the this H1N1 is so rampant that making folks get the vaccine is fair. I will get it when it becomes available because i work with Geriatric residents and would not want to spread it to them.
